What's New

Recent years, the space industry in Asian-Pacific countries has flourished as these countries are attaching more and more importance to space technology, investing spacecraft projects more and more heavily. The application scope of the advanced science and technology with space technology as the leading role, extend continuously, and its social and economic benefits are becoming notable. Although each country has its own approach to the spacecraft project management, there is still a long way to go in systematization, standardization, informatization and practical applications.

As we know, the countries in Asia-Pacific region are looking forward to further strengthening the cooperation in space area to promote the sustainable social and economic development in this region by taking advantage of space technology. In order to help the governmental officials, managers, experts and professionals, etc. involved the spacecraft project management to advance their project management knowledge and level, to establish substantial theoretic base and systematic professional knowledge to meet the demand of the economic construction and social development of each countries, consequently bridge the gap between developing countries and larger space fairing nations, From 2000 to 2005, the Secretariat of Asia Pacific Multilateral Cooperation in Space Technology and Applications (AP-MCSTA) and China National Space Administration (CNSA) have jointly organized five training programs in space technology and its applications. More than 150 participants from about 30 countries have attended these training programs in China .

Nowadays, With the full support of China National Space Administration (CNSA) and the Secretariat of AP-MCSTA, Beihang University (BUAA) , which is the best university on aerospace engineering in China and focuses on promoting to establish a regional space education center--Asia-Pacific Space Education Center (APSEC), is planning to organize a Mater Program on Space Application aiming to offer comprehensive and systematic study on space technology and its applications .

The first class of MASA, which is designed on study of the Remote Sensing and Geo-information System (RS&GIS), shall be held in March, 2006 at Beihang University .
